Noren is a rectangular tapestry with a slit in the middle and a slot at the top for a rod (often bamboo rod). This one does not have a slit but you can cut it vertically in the middle by scissors. Noren has been in Japanese households and shops for a very long time. Noren was originally hang at the entrance way to guard against the sun, wind, dust, and nosey neighbors. Now days, Noren is used to provide shade and privacy at doorways and windows. They are commonly used in restaurants and shops as well. You can also use is as a wall art.
